Astros, Gerrit Cole go through arbitration hearingFebruary 12, 2019 2:55pm

The Astros and starting pitcher Gerrit Cole are in arbitration this week.

Cole's hearing was Monday and the arbitrators overseeing the case are expected to rule sometime this week, according to The Associated Press.

The right-hander asked for $13.5 million while Houston posted an offer of $11.425 million. Players and teams have split six arbitration decisions this year, with four more hearings scheduled.

Cole, 28, is coming off of a career year with the Astros in which he went 15-5 with a 2.88 ERA in 32 starts. He struck out 276 batters in 200 1/3 innings.

The 2011 No. 1 pick was paid $6.75 million last season.

The Astros earlier lost their arbitration case withCarlos Correa, who will be paid $5 million this season, and avoided arbitration with Chris Devenski, who they signed to a one-year contract with an option for a second.
