Sorry, ladies. Tim Tebow is an engaged man.
The former Florida quarterback and Heisman winner proposed to former Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Del-Peters on Wednesday, People Magazine reported Thursday.
Tebow, 31, proposed with a 7.25-carat ring on his farm outside of Jacksonville, Fla., and Del-Peters said yes.
Tebow said he brought Del-Peters, 23, to a small lake on the property, where he set up an arbor and a custom-made bench with the date of when they first met engraved on it.
He then got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.
“I actually wasn’t really nervous,” Tebow said. “I was excited. I wanted everything to be perfect and to go smoothly. But I wasn’t nervous to actually ask her.”
So Del-Peters wouldn't suspect anything, Tebow said he was having a late Christmas get-together with his family and wanted to surprise his dad with a new truck. He even borrowed a truck from a dealership and placed a bow on it.
Once she said yes, Del-Peters' family and friends from her native country of South Africa came out to surprise her, along with Tebow's family.
“I’m sorry you didn’t get a new truck,” Del-Peters told Tebow's dad, “but you’re getting a new daughter!”
After his success at Florida, which saw him with two national titles along with the Heisman Trophy, Tebow was drafted in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Broncos. Despite leading the Broncos to a win over the Steelers in the first round of the 2012 playoffs, Tebow was traded in the offseason to the Jets.
He bounced around to Patriots and the Eagles before joining the SEC Network as an analyst in 2013.
In 2016, he announced he was pursuing a career in baseball and eventually landed a minor-league contract with the Mets. He was invited to Major League tryouts with New York in January of 2018, but didn't make the cut.
